What is happening in Iran?

On 16 September 2022, a 22-year-old Iranian woman named Mahsa Amini was killed while in custody due to brutality of the so-called “morality police” for not wearing her hijab in conformity with the regime standards. Her death triggered the most widespread protests that the regime has faced in the past four decades not only in Iran, but in more than 200 cities around the world including major cities of Australia. These series of large-scale protests garnered international attention resulting statements from United Nations, government officials around the world (including Australia) and numerous celebrities who condemned the systematic human right violations in Iran and expressed solidarity with the protesters. The protests are still going on and the regime has killed, arrested, and injured numerous Iranians of all age to silence this uprising. Be Iranian’s voice in their fight for freedom and democracy.

1- Letter to Australia’s Prime Minister

1- نامه به نخست وزیر استرالیا:

Email Address: a.albanese.mp@aph.gov.au Email Topic:  Iranian-Australians ask for your support

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

Without any doubt, you are aware of the widespread protests in Iran. Iranian people have risen against the regime’s oppression and long-lasting violation of basic human rights. This is without any doubt the most united and widespread protest that the regime has faced in the past four decades not only in Iran, but in more than 200 cities around the world including major cities of Australia. As an Iranian-Australian, I ask for your true support and action to:

  • Condemn the Islamic Republic’s violent behaviour
  • Deny visas to all Islamic Republic officials to enter Australia
  • Enact Magnitsky Sanctions against key actors and members of the IRGC and regime officials

Our anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist organisation laws should not be unclear or conflicting. We must uphold the legislation against terrorists that were passed by our democratic government.

Mr. Prime Minister, any business they conduct here and any money they make will later be used against humanity and world peace. We shouldn’t directly or indirectly support the Iranian government’s terrorist acts or empower them. We are a nation that abides by international law and respects humanity.

We seek your direct counsel and direction on how to handle this matter and demonstrate Australian values in action.

Yours faithfully,

[Your Name], Iranian-Australian Citizen

2- Letter to Australia’s Foreign Minister

2- نامه به وزیر امور خارجه استرالیا

Email Address: senator.wong@aph.gov.au Email Topic: Be Our True Voice, Penny!

Dear Minister Penny Wong,

Thank you for being the voice of Iranians and condemning Islamic Republic’s violent behaviour. This is a very pivotal moment for Iranians and without any doubt for the whole world that’s impacted by the political stability in Middle East. Iranians have risen in an unprecedented fashion, demanding regime change, and they are calling for international support.

Iranians have risen against more than 4 decades of systematic human right violation, oppression, violence, and corruption of the regime. The protests were triggered by brutal murder of a young woman called Mahsa Amini by the so called “morality police”, and over the past month the regime has killed, arrested or injured many more to silence the protesters.

In this crucial time, unfortunately it is not enough just to say that Australia stands with Iranian women because they struggle for equality! As an Iranian-Australian, I ask for your support in action, please:

  • Condemn the Islamic Republic’s violent behaviour
  • Deny visas to all Islamic Republic officials to enter Australia
  • Enact Magnitsky Sanctions against key actors and members of the IRGC and Regime officials
  • Call lran ambassador to Canberra and express Australian government and citizens’ view about the regime’s crimes against humanity
  • Expel Australian ambassador to lran

I ask you to please join the Iranian people in their call for freedom. Please use your voice and position to condemn in no uncertain terms, the barbaric actions of the regime. We ask you to stand with the Iranian people who chant on every street, WOMEN, LIFE, FREEDOM.

Yours faithfully,

[Your Name], Iranian-Australian Citizen

Email subject: Be Our Voice!

[Dear Mr/Mrs/Dr/Ms Last Name]

After the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini by the so-called “morality police” in Tehran on 16 September 2022, people of Iran have risen yet again and the streets of Iran are witnessing courageous protestors standing against the long-lasting oppression, violence and systematic violation of human rights. This is without any doubt the most united and widespread protest that Islamic Republic of Iran has witnessed.

Mahsa Amini’s name has become the code name for resistance and the people of Iran are voicing their rage and anger towards the 44-year rule of the regime that has no means of survival except violence, persecution, oppression, murder and corruption.

Iranians of all age, including teenage schoolgirls, have risen with one common demand; they don’t want this regime that uses religion to control people. But the regime is responding with brutal violence, cracking down on unarmed citizens with live ammunition and hordes of thugs in plain clothes and uniform.

I ask you to please join the Iranian people in their call for freedom. Please use your voice and position to condemn in no uncertain terms, the barbaric actions of the regime.

Yours sincerely,

Be our voice!

Protests in Iran are in their 12th consecutive night. They started response to the death of 22 years old Mahsa Amini (#MahsaAmini) while in morality police custody. (Morality police in Iran is called Gashte Ershad).

Mahsa Amini was arrested for not wearing the “Hijab” in accordance with government standards.

The leaked medical scans and reports of her death all provide evidence on her being severely beaten which led to severe haemorrhage and stroke.

Mahsa’s death resulted in series of large-scale protests across the country with slogan “Women – Life – Freedom”. Since the protests began, Iran’s government attempted to suppress the protests, shooting protesters, deploying tear gas and water cannons, and blocking access to internet. Which latter has stopped protesters to upload videos, photos and messages to Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram and all other applications and website that could possibly be used to leak the protests situation outside Iran. This is happening while the regime has continued suppressing the protest all over Iran. There are still some video footage coming out which shows their brutality in killing youth.

More than 70 people have been reportedly killed and more than 2000 people have been arrested with unknown location at the moment. In cases, even the body of the killed ones have not been handed over to the loved ones for a proper funeral as it might be deemed as a a symbol of martyring.

In support of these protests, many demonstrations have been made by Iranians all over the world, and also in Australia over the last two weeks.

Iranian women unlike other women in middle east are the most educated women in the region. They have a 97% literacy rate, they make up 65% of university graduates and 70% of STEMM graduates more than any other country. This is not the first time they have taken to the street as the front liners of protests like this.

It is perhaps the time to acknowledge this massive protest as the largest human rights movements of the recent years, and join Iranians in their right for freedom by by condemning the Islamic Republic’s violent and barbaric behaviour against people specially women.

We ask you to stand with the Iranian people in chanting Women – Life – Freedom.

Email Subject: Urgent Plea to [University Name]

Dear [Name the committee or Relevant Person]

In the past few weeks, students in universities across Iran have been on strike while gathering in their universities to protest in solidarity with the recent Iranian people uprising against the Islamic Republic.

In response, the government has surrounded the universities and used its security forces to beat and arrest the students. The violence against student protests has been particularly brutal in Sharif University of Technology.

The situation became so dire that students had to send SOS messages to outside world asking for help. We are extremely concerned about the imminent danger to students lives in the universities if the international community doesn’t intervene.

Hereby, I respectfully urge you to strongly condemn the Iranian regime’s use of violence against student protests, and demand security forces to leave the universities and release all arrested students.

Kind Regards

Dear Google team,

I’m reaching out to inform “the biggest war for human rights is happening right now in Iran”. A 22-year-old girl Mahsa Amini was beaten to death on 16/09/2022 by the so called “morality police of Islamic Republic” in Iran for not wearing her hijab properly. After the brutal murder of this young woman, the people of Iran have risen yet again.

Mahsa’s death triggered the most widespread protests that the regime has faced in the past four decades not only in Iran, but in more than 200 cities around the world.

People from outside Iran all around the globe are helping the brave women and people of Iran by educating the world about what is happening to them. We’d appreciate it if you acknowledge this as one of the largest human right movements of the recent years and spread the word by changing Google logo in memory of those who are being killed in seeking freedom and basic human rights but keep going because they have a greater goal.

Kind regards,
